The virtual tour was conceived as a tool to convey knowledge of one of the most important decorative cycles of the Emilian Baroque, executed between 1614 and 1628 by students of the Carracci school inside the oratory of St. Roch. In this context, the figure of Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, known as Guercino, whose painting underwent restoration in June 2023, stands out.
On this occasion, a series of 360° photographic shots were taken using Ricoh Theta equipment. These cameras produce equirectangular images whose overlapping homologous points in stitching reconstructs the environment of interest within specialized software, allowing virtual movements.
This was followed by the processing phase of the tour, enriched with hotspots to observe individually of all the work in the cycle and learn about their authors. The design of the hotspots was developed from the logo of the National Art Gallery of Bologna.
