18.6667px;\">Assunto il controllo della bottega appartenuta a Benedetto gennari senior, Guercino e il fratello Paolo Antonio si uniformarono alle regole della Compagnia dei pittori di Bologna, che richiedevano per le botteghe artistiche l&#8217;utilizzo di adeguati strumenti contabili. Dal 1629 Paolo Antonio cominci\u00f2 a compilare il Libro dei conti, supporto essenziale alla gestione degli affari economici della famiglia e della bottega, dove vennero registrati sia il denaro riscosso per i dipinti, sia le spese sostenute per il mantenimento della casa e della famiglia. Nei vent&#8217;anni in cui fu lui ad occuparsi del Libro dei conti, le voci relative ai singoli quadri &#8211; dal loro formato, al costo dell&#8217;opera, fino alle notizie su intermediari e committenti &#8211; furono annotate con ordine e regolarit\u00e0.
